Captivate Network is a digital programming and advertising network that informs and entertains business professionals and working consumers, enlivens office buildings and gives traditional (print, broadcast, online) ad campaigns more impact.
Our integrated network of elevator and lobby screens, web sites and live events reaches a spend-ready audience in a powerful, uninterrupted way.
Captivate began as a flash of inspiration during an elevator ride when co-founder and CEO Mike DiFranza saw an opportunity to make people’s uneasiness in crowded elevators an enjoyable experience. His solution: give them something engaging to look at besides their shoes, watches or BlackBerrys.
When two colleagues – Todd Newville and Ray Pineau – bought into his vision, the three launched the company with the first Captivate network in Boston’s prestigious Seaport Hotel more than a decade ago. We soon after merged with our biggest competitor, Toronto-based Elevator News Network (ENN), to solidify market leadership.
Today, Captivate has grown into the largest and most trusted alternative media network company of its kind. We have more than 8,800 screens in more than 830 buildings in the top 24 Designated Market Areas (DMAs) of North America, delivering over 50 million impressions per month. We engage almost 3 million viewers every day.
Our network has proven so effective that Gannett Co. – the leading international news and information powerhouse – acquired us in 2004 as a strategic move into the digital out-of-home advertising market. We continue to operate as a business unit within the Gannett family.
Captivate partners with more than 100 of the most respected media outlets to provide programming for the network, including The Canadian Press, Globe and Mail, Reuters, and the Weather Network.
But unlike similar networks that simply stream wire service copy or RSS feeds, we complement our media partner’s content with a team of news-savvy editors developing custom content and personalizing the news.
Our editors not only choose stories of national interest, but dive into local markets as well for content specific to each business location.
Our editorial team is committed to delivering content that holds viewers’ attention and makes advertising more memorable.
